2013 March 1, Friday

For the first time, Shu Uemura comes up with a collection with all eyeshadows mat.  All three limited edition palettes!  That’s rather unusual (but nice) isn’t it?  Not a single shimmer eyeshadow in the whole collection.

Imagine the mat shades on your eyelids looking like velvety flowers petals blowing in the wind as you express with your eyes.

The pastel shades of pink, blue, lilac, green and yellow together with some neutrals can give your makeup looks some fresh beginnings and moods this Spring/Summer season.

In the collection are 2 brightly coloured styles of false lashes to bring colours to your eyes if you think you are not that good with your blending…

Go check them out and emote joy with your eyes!

Oh yes!  GOOD NEWS!!  To celebrate 30 years of beauty, Shu Uemura Singapore has generously re-priced 30 of their beauty icons to new LOWER prices!  😉

Spring 2012 makeup trends

2012 January 6, Friday

Spring is coming right up and Chanel, Dior and Shu Uemura have some nice offerings!  So please allow me to share with you some of my faves here.

Chanel’s Spring Harmony collection is all about radiance and glow with either peachy warmth or rosiness.  The star product, Blush Horizon de Chanel, gives you rosy cheeks or peachy radiance all in one compact.  Fans of Rouge Coco Shine will also be happy to get their hands on the new Rouge Coco Baume.  A silky smooth lip balm made with cane sugar known for its restorative properties.

Dior’s Garden Party collection is, like the name suggests, about a blooming garden in Spring.  Hues of pinks and violets to represent the flora in bloom and greens for the greenery all around.  The 5 Couleurs palette is oh so pretty with the with flower motif embossed eye shadows.  And exciting nail colours make it fun and cheerful!

Meanwhile, another garden is in full bloom at Shu Uemura.  Celestial Garden is the house’s 134th Mode Makeup collection and it is a very colourful one.  With shades of green, blue, yellow, pink etc. it’s gonna make you spoilt for choice.  I especially like the Creamy Dome Cheek for it’s easy-to-use and natural finish.  Just run the dome effortlessly on the cheeks and circle around with your fingertips and voila!  And to make your eyes prettier without overdoing it, you can put on these limited edition falsies.  Angel Wink is a set of not so long falsies for you to add accent to your upper lashes for a fairy like wink.  But if you want more drama, you can wear them on the lower lash line to widen those eyes…

Have fun exploring these Spring sensations!

Shu Uemura X Mika Ninagawa

2011 April 20, Wednesday

One of Japan’s most popular photographers, Mika Ninagawa, who is known for her distinct way of capturing flora and fauna in the most eye-catching way, has collaborated with Shu Uemura on the their special collection of UV Under Base Mousse.

Fronting the campaign is Yu Yamada.  A famous model turned singer/actress who is also the first celebrity spokesperson for Shu Uemura.

Fans of this product will be excited to discover a new and LIMITED EDITION shade added to the pink and beige shades which has been mentioned here,  The BB Beige shade.  But all in specially designed packaging.

Catching on to the famous BB cream trend, this super lightweight mousse can replace your BB cream and will brighten up your complexion without that unnatural whitish-ashy effect.

Together with the launch of the mousse collection is the Rouge Unlimited Sakura Collection in six shades of lipstick in nuances of the cherry blossom flowers.  Pucker up and make your lips bloom!

And more lipsticks!!!  Introducing the Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine.  A long-lasting lipstick full of shine and water to keepyour lips super moist and beaming with lots of shine!  It feels so comfortable and luxurious on the lips.  Among them are three artist shades that allows you to help you create different effects to your existing lip colours.  Go play!

Shu Uemura UV Under Base Mousse

2010 March 17, Wednesday

Let me take fans of Shu Uemura‘s UV Under Base Mousse down memory lane.

My first encounter with it was in 1990 was at first Shu Uemura standalone boutique at the now defunct Scotts Shopping Centre.  It was one of the firsts for a makeup product in mousse form and was refreshing for many.  And it has been updated over the years and this March, the newest version is available.

With the highest SPF of 30 PA++, it has become more moisturizing yet not sticky in texture.  And for the first time, it dispenses in an upright position making things easier.  It also comes in a warm beige-y shade to warm up a pale skin tone and a pink-y tone to brighten up complexions.

Trick :  if you make a little boobooo with your eye makeup, you can even dab a cotton bud into it and erase the mistake. 🙂

Here’s the history of this cult makeup item.

Shu Uemura X Tsumori Chisato Xmas 2009

2009 November 18, Wednesday

Many if you may have seen the collection in stores already.  The collaboration Christmas 2009 collection between Shu Uemura and famous Japanese Designer Tsumori Chisato.  This will be a hit with cat lovers as well as suckers for cute-sy packaging.  The colours in the palettes are pretty much wearable on usual occasions too even thought this is a Xmas collection.  The 3 makeup pouches (two of which comes as a set with either 3 mini lip glosses or travel sized brushes) are also very pretty.  Go pick your fancy.  The kira-kilash has eight parts of false lashes each with either white or black diamantes.  You can use them all at one go for high drama or just one part at the outer corners of the eyes over regular falsies for some sparkle.

And the face of this campaign is Romana (from Slovakia if I remember correctly). We worked together when she was here a few months back.  She was a sweet girl.  Happy to see her land an international campaign. 🙂
