That’s the year Kiehl’s was “born”. From a small classic pharmacy founded by Mr. John Kiehl to the company well known and sought after for it’s gimmick free skin and hair products. One can imagine how trustworthy Kiehl’s can be from its great success it has achieved over the years.
And we are talking about 160 years!!! So in celebration, Kiehl’s has introduced the Limited Edition New York Heritage Collection worldwide. Comprising four historical formulations that are close to the hearts or many ardent Kiehl’s fans. They are the Calendula Herbal Extract Toner, Ultra Facial Moisturizer, Ultra Facial Cream and the Original Musk Oil. Three of the four are available in Singapore.
The Calendula toner was launched in the late 60s and was a hit for its soothing and refreshing properties. Up till today, it is still made with hand-picked marigold flowers.
The Ultra Facial Cream, launched 2005, was a proud sponsor of the “Greenland First Ascent” expedition and that helped keep the team’s skin from drying out in the harsh weather. Imagine how dry the skin can become at the top of those ice mountains with such dry and cold climate.
And the Original Musk Oil which is the oldest of the lot is believed to have been formulated in the early 20s by a relative of the Kiehl’s family who was a Russian Prince! According to legend, the formulation was stashed in a vat in the basement of Kiehl’s venerable flagship store and was discovered when the vat was opened in 1958!
It was re-introduced in 1963 with the current name because it was the only scent known at that time to be associated with the work “musk” and believed to be the first incarnation of the musk scent to be offered to the public.

If you’ve been checking out wrinkle filler products you may have noticed most if not all would contain silicone. Silicone in a product would, in my knowledge, give the wearer instant gratification as it immediately fills up the lines and crevices on the face. But this latest wrinkle filler from Kiehl’s DOES NOT CONTAIN SILICONE!
How cool is that?! It means that the product works to really plump up those fine lines without the visual effect that silicone would enhance but with other more effective products discovered after much research and development. Come 6th August 2009, at 3:54PM, I will join 9 celebrities, at the grand opening of Kiehl’s newest store in ION Orchard B3-54 (notice the match of the unit number and the event time? hee). We are going to be there for a very important reason besides celebrating the store’s opening. We are there to promote “green-ness” and to spread awareness! As a green person, I was very happy and honoured to be involved in it and really want to thank Michelle Chew and the people at Kiehl’s for having me in mind. 🙂
The 9 of them are, in alphabetical order to their last names, Nadya Hutagalung, Denise Keller, Hossan Leong, JJ Lin, Eunice Olsen, Mindee Ong, Utt, Wong Li Lin and Allan Wu.
Last year, funds were raised through the sales of environment friendly shopping bags (which I’ve been using regularly). This year, it will be eye-catching tees that would help raise funds. Each of us will have our own tee with our slogons printed on it. And 100% of the nett proceeds from the sales of the tees will go to Singapore Environment Council.
I hope the turn out will be great and we will be able to raise a lot of funds for the causes and concerns looked after by the council. If you can’t make it on the day itself, you can always pop by anytime to help raise funds. PLEASE PLEASE SUPPORT…… 🙂
